On this episode of Gridlock Break, we’re hearing from Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, who formerly led the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA regulates food and medicine, and they’re at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. Dr. Eschenbach is going to explain how innovators across the country are rising to meet this challenge, both by applying existing therapies to fight the virus now and developing new therapies and vaccines to fight it in the near future.

The work to find both treatments and a vaccine for coronavirus is moving forward at breakneck speed. As Dr. Eschenbach points out, we’re in the fight of our lives, but we have American ingenuity on our side. That ingenuity has gotten us through so many difficult times before and it can do so again. But we need citizens and our leaders to embrace a different kind of politics. A politics of problem solving where people from across the political spectrum come together behind the only mission that matters for Americans right now. Stopping this virus, saving lives and getting people back to work.
